The Appeal by Janice Hallett – Book Review

I saw this recommended by one of the Bookstagrammers and bought it blindly. Did not even read the blurb.

The style of writing is what caught my attention the moment I picked up the book. The entire story is narrated as emails between the characters. Along with a few news articles and text messages. This was intriguing enough. We do not even know who gets killed until we are 3/4th into the book.

The plot is centered around a drama, its characters and the owner’s grand daughter being diagnosed with cancer. There is toxic friendship, betrayal, murder, money scam, mental health, misuse of power…. you name it, it’s there. The book was an interesting read and kept me guessing till the end. Even though the book had everything and I enjoyed, it just did not blow my mind. I did not have a ‘WOW’ moment. Definitely worth a one time read though.

My Rating: 3.5⭐/5
