Another random pick from the library, and I’m so glad to have read it. A cute feel-good romance. Other than romcom, romance in any form has never been a genre for me. But this book has just stolen my heart.
I loved the first book. Even though it sounded a bit childish at times the plot was great and I enjoyed it. The book is of course classified as both children’s literature and young adult(?) so the childishness is acceptable.
Such a great book to start off the year with! Totally justified my decision to not see the movie before reading the book. The series has 8 books and I hope to finish them in January itself.
After a really long time, I read a book in 2 sittings. There is no mystery. There are no action packed scenes. I’m not sure I would even call it fast paced. But the book still had me in its grip.
I loved the cover. I think it’s gorgeous. The book started off really well. The first few chapters are the best part of the book. The scenes set in the orphanage have been done well.
Reading the last book in a good series is always a bit nostalgic and dismal at the same time. You know the series is going to end. You wonder whether your characters will get their happy ending. You know you are going to miss these characters. You also know you can’t delay reading it forever.
My first instinct when I started Gemina, was to see whether the format really made a difference. If you remember, I read Illuminae as an e book and it really took away the novelty of the book’s unique format. And boy, I loved Gemina much more than Illuminae.
Ever since I saw the Illuminae series on Bookstagram, I had wanted to read them. The unique format of the book intrigued me. Our library has these books and so I didn’t want to buy them. But it was almost impossible to check out all 3 at the same time.
The Priory of the Orange Tree is a massive book. The size of this book has always put me off from picking it up. I don’t think I would have ever read it if it wasn’t for the buddy read. I read the e-book and seeing that it had more than 1000 pages did intimidate me a little bit at the start.
For more than a year I have been seeing A Court of Thorns and Roses and its sequels around Instagram. But I was always wary about reading them. Whenever I saw these books, the first thought that came to my mind was – Ok this is just another fantasy book.
