An obscenely rich couple are brutally murdered in their home after an Easter dinner with their three adult children. The children are devastated… or are they? They stand to inherit millions. Their father was vengeful and the mother least bothered. Definitely not the perfect parents. But would that lead one of their own children to murder? Or was it someone else?
I liked the plot. And that’s all that I liked. Shari Lapena is known for domestic thrillers. I’ve read her other books and loved them. But this did not live up to my expectations. The writing was average and felt rushed. The characters were all forgettable. None of them left an impression on me. Towards the end, I just wanted to finish it off. I did not really guess the killer until the last moment. So that’s a plus I guess.
