About Me
Hello Bookworms
My name is Naila. I am an Indian living in Qatar. My passion is reading. If you ask me when I started reading I will not be able to tell you. Reading has been a life long passion for me. When I was a kid, I used to mostly read the fortnightly magazine for children & young adult “Young Times” that came with the newspaper in UAE. I think I started reading a proper book when I was around 11 years old. The earliest books I remember reading are Famous Five & Secret Seven which then progressed to Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys during my teens. Mysteries and thrillers have always intrigued me.
I read a proper adult book when I was 16 years old. My cousin introduced me to Jeffrey Archer. The book I read was The Eleventh Commandment. I finished the book in a day and fell in love with it. Jeffrey Archer is still one of my favorite authors. My reading journey took various turns from there.

I started my Bookstagram account in December 2018. For those of you who don’t know, Bookstagram is just an Instagram account where we solely talk about books. Before that I never knew such a community existed in Instagram. I met so many amazing readers and made some new friends. I was elated. I was regretting not having started that account earlier. But better late than never right. Again, I discovered so many new books, authors, tried new genres that I never would have tried otherwise.
In 2018, when Qatar National Library started here, I was over the moon. For the first time in my life, I had access to so many books. I started keeping tabs on how many books I was reading and the number surprised me. This led me to start having reading goals every year. In 2019, I kept a very ambitious goal to read 100 books. That number is huge for me. But I reached it! In fact, I read 104 books. Read about my journey in 2019 here.
Since then, I have not been able to reach that number but I have started writing reviews. Writing has never been my forte but whenever I feel very happy or emotional, I have this urge to write and share it. I must say penning down my thoughts and writing reviews has really helped me to improve my writing skills. The only difficult part is being consistent. I’m trying but it’s not always easy.
In the last couple of years, I have tried various genres but my comfort read hasn’t changed from thrillers and crime fiction. Murder and action is what speaks to me. The thrill of solving a murder is truly addictive. Recently I also discovered that I love romcom. Romance genre has never been my thing but romcoms are perfect for light reads and lifting moods. My favorite authors are Jeffrey Archer, Lisa Gardner, Sophie Kinsella.
My goal for this blog is to help me share the amazing books that I read with all of you and improve my skills at the same time.
Let’s get reading!
